Fashion designer Rafal Swaider was born in Poland but started his fashion career in New York City. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology NY, and started his career in women’s fashion on 7th Avenue. Following a move to the West Coast, he started his menswear project and the brand of R.Swaider was born. Now working out of Los Angeles, Swaider produces elegantly simple clothes where the detail is in the clever cut. His designs are easy to wear combining classic style with unexpected twists. His inspiration for menswear came on a trip to Paris in 2014. He says:
“I want the entire collection to feel classic in a non-traditional way. I can wear it in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Istanbul and feel comfortable wearing these designs in any city.”
There is definitely a sense of the global in his latest collection for Fall 2016 where the multi-cultural influences are clearly evident. Boxy jackets teamed with smart but comfortable pleated trousers would work well in the office. Combine the trousers with a loose fitting jumper for a more casual look, or a long line white shirt indicative of a more eastern aesthetic. The floor length waistcoats add a touch of drama to the collection which is truly versatile. Simple layers in comfortable fabric mean that men of all ages can feel confident wearing these striking yet classy designs.
This collection also sees Swaider’s first collaboration with the iconic fashion illustrator Richard Haines. Haines has produced an exclusive nautical themed drawing that has been incorporated in a limited edition t-shirt graphic and limited edition bandana print. The Richard Haines collaboration will be available exclusively on the R.Swaider website http
